Retro Disco Vibes at FiveFourStudios Manchester

If one thing's for certain it's that itchy shutter finger every alternative wedding photographer endures over winter. You might imagine that we sit updating websites, sorting out tax returns, adjusting prices, making albums and answering the engagement season enquiry rush - which is all true - but the one thing we really want to do is get out and take some photos.

So when Jade at Killer Filler Workshop got in touch with a retro disco themed shoot just over the Pennines in Manchester, I wasn't really going to say no.

The shoot took place at fivefourstudios in Salford - just five minutes walk from the centre of Manchester. fivefourstudios, a compact former industrial building spread across three floors and cleverly converted into a suite of pure white-walled photography studios and a spectacularly decorated bar, is the ultimate in customisable, blank-canvas venues, with space for up to 240 party folk. This is the ideal wedding venue if you want to make the place your own.

What got me all excited though, you ask?

Well, a lesbian couple, a shit-tonne of disco balls and glitter, and a wonderfully talented drag queen DJ to begin with. Then add in some sequinned stilt-dancers (The Cequin Circus), one of my favourite florists (Meadows and Mulberry), a photo booth (Megabooth), and a dance floor full of fun and you have a shoot to remember. There's a first time for everything, a banging dance floor at a styled shoot, done that.

Intrigued? Inspired? Take a look below and don't blame me if you end up with a drag queen at your wedding. You've been warned.
