Andy + Caitlin’s Sheffield Industrial DIY Wedding
Andy and Caitlin knew what they wanted for their do-it-yourself wedding at Trafalgar Warehouse and they didn’t want a photographer. They’re not massive fans of being the centre of a photographer’s attention and so wedding photography wasn’t their idea of fun.
They didn’t initially book with me after our video call. I cannot express how disappointed I was, they seemed like they had amazing plans and I was keen to visit Trafalgar Warehouse. Skip forward a month or two and Caitlin got back in touch, they’d had a think and would like a photographer and whilst a little anxious about the idea, they were sure I was the guy for the job.
I could tell the prospect of couple portraits wasn’t up their street, but missing out on them at an urban wedding in my hometown was out of the question. It was time for the big guns – coffee at 200 Degrees and an in-person chat about how I approach couple portraits and just how chilled it would be. That was it, they were sold. I’m not sure whether it was the words or the coffee, but I could feel the nervousness melting away.
Skip forward a couple of weeks and it was time for the big day and what a day! Trafalgar Warehouse did not fail to deliver, the central Sheffield venue sits next to the favourite club of my teens, Corporation, so the whole post-industrial area has a special place in my heart.
Andy and Caitlin were amazing and their wedding was one heck of a party! Confetti cannons in the aisle, Louise delivering a Kickass ceremony, Bhaji Shop delivering food from their classic campervan, and a dancefloor of fun later in the evening – with not one but TWO couple portrait sessions in the streets of Sheffield, producing some of my favourite photos to date!
I’m so happy I could put these guys at ease and capture some amazing memories their epic day.
